Research in Motion on Monday unveiled the BlackBerry Tour 9630, a 3G-enabled world phone that will be available later this summer.
Also known as the BlackBerry Niagara, the smart phone will be offered on Spring and Verizon Wireless, and is considered an update to the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition models, according to CNET News.
Some speculate that RIM is trying to market the phone to two markets, business executives and mainstream consumers.
ZDNet's Andrew Nusca writes that the Tour is a kind of hybrid between the "consumer-friendly BlackBerry Curve and the corporate executive-driven BlackBerry Bold, offering business-friendly global capabilities and consumer-friendly multimedia features."
People can use the phone outside of North America, as the Tour is a dual-mode world phone.
One drawback: It does not have Wi-Fi, which could limit Internet access in some places. But it does offer Bluetooth 2.0 and GPS.
Sprint is offering the model for $199, but Verizon has yet to announce a price.
